Our Team
Dr John Feenstra
Thoracic and Sleep Physician
Dr Feenstra graduated from the University of Queensland in 1996 and completed his advanced training in thoracic and sleep medicine here in Brisbane. Dr Feenstra sees general respiratory patients but has a special interest in: • Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) • PAH/CTD (Scleroderma) • Chronic Thromboembolic Pulmonary Hypertension (CTEPH) • Severe Allergic Asthma • Obstructive Sleep Apnoea, respiratory failure and non-invasive ventilation In 2008, Dr Feenstra established the Wesley Pulmonary Hypertension Unit, which has become the largest private specialised unit for the assessment and management of Pulmonary Hypertension in Queensland. Dr Feenstra is also head physician for PAH/CTEPH at The Prince Charles Hospital, and is actively involved in research as a Principal Investigator for several PAH and CTEPH trials run through The Prince Charles Hospital. Dr Feenstra is also a Senior Lecturer for UQ/Bond and Notre Dame and the President of the Pulmonary Hypertension Society of Australia and New Zealand (PHSANZ).
Rebekka Beaumont
Nurse Practitioner
Rebekka completed her Bachelor of Nursing (Pre-Registration) from the University of Southern Queensland in 2004. Rebekka has been working as a Senior Clinical Nurse with the Wesley Pulmonary Hypertension Unit since 2011 and went on to complete her Master of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) from the University of Queensland in 2015, graduating with first class honours. Rebekka’s special interests include PAH, PAH/CTD (scleroderma) and severe allergic asthma.
Andrea Bennett
Scientist
Andrea is an experienced respiratory physiologist with a Bachelor Degree in biomedical Science from the Victoria University in Wellington (New Zealand) and a Master of Health Science from Charles Sturt University in Wagga Wagga. Andrea has a high level of expertise in lung function testing and excels at creating an environment of ease during the lung function testing. Andrea is available to answer questions and explain each test in detail prior to the testing process.
