Prince Charles Hospital first to offer BPA treatment in Queensland

Dr Feenstra working with the team at the Prince Charles Hospital are pleased to be able to offer patients with CTEPH (a particular form of pulmonary hypertension) a newly developed treatment - balloon pulmonary angioplasty.

Balloon pulmonary angioplasty or BPA is a medical interventional therapy to treat patients with CTEPH who are ineligible for PEA. It is a safe, highly efficacious technique involving dilatation of segmental and sub-segmental obstructions of the pulmonary arterial tree in patients with inoperable CTEPH.

Dr Feenstra and the Prince Charles team worked with UC San Diego Health to bring this emerging treatment to Queensland.
